Add Ledra to your server
Invite Ledra, give it the right permissions, and check that it works.
Before you start#
You need the Manage Server permission on the server you want to add Ledra to. Discord only shows servers where you have it.
1. Invite Ledra#
Open the invite link:
Pick your server, leave the pre-selected permissions checked, and confirm.
Do not uncheck permissions to "be safe". Ledra checks what it is allowed to do before every action and tells you when something is missing — but a permission you removed at invite time turns into an error message later, at the worst possible moment. See what each one is for.
2. Move Ledra's role up#
This is the step people skip, and it breaks the most.
Go to Server Settings → Roles and drag the Ledra role above every role it should be able to manage.
Discord does not let any bot touch a member whose highest role sits above the
bot's own. If Ledra's role is at the bottom, /kick, /ban, /timeout, join
roles and role menus will all refuse to work — correctly, but frustratingly.

Ledra's role does not need to be at the very top. It needs to be above the members and roles it manages.
3. Check that it arrived#
Type / in any channel. You should see Ledra's commands appear. Then run:
/ping
If you get a "Pong!" back, Ledra is connected and working.
No commands showing up? Discord can take a few minutes to distribute a new bot's commands. Fully close and reopen your Discord client, then try again. If they are still missing after an hour, see Troubleshooting.
4. Continue to setup#
What the permissions are for#
| Permission | Needed for |
|---|---|
| View Channels | Reading channels so AutoMod and logging can see what happens |
| Send Messages | Every reply, log entry, greeting and announcement |
| Embed Links | The formatted embed cards Ledra posts |
| Read Message History | /purge |
| Manage Messages | /purge, and AutoMod deleting offending messages |
| Manage Roles | Join roles and role menus |
| Kick Members | /kick |
| Ban Members | /ban, /tempban, /unban |
| Moderate Members | /timeout, /untimeout |
If you skip a permission, the matching feature stops — nothing else breaks. Ledra checks the specific channel it is about to act in, so a permission that exists server-wide but is denied in one channel is caught too.
Removing Ledra#
Right-click Ledra in the member list and kick it, like any other member.
Your configuration is kept, deliberately — an accidental kick should not destroy months of setup. Invite Ledra back and everything is exactly as you left it. To have your data deleted permanently instead, see Your data.
